A luxury family home in Calamvale attracted fierce competition at auction, with eight registered bidders driving the sale price to $1.85 million after a fast-paced bidding contest that drew a crowd of more than 50 people.

The property at 29 Aster Place, Calamvale, opened with a bid of $1.5 million before climbing another $350,000 through 20 bids. As the auction progressed, the contest narrowed to two determined families who continued bidding in $10,000 increments before one secured the property.

According to Place Forest Lake, the home was promoted through an extensive marketing campaign before auction day, including social media advertising and follow-up with prospective buyers and local neighbours. The agency said the campaign helped attract strong interest ahead of the auction.

Selling agent Stephanie Tran said the vendors had received three offers before auction day, each around the $1.65 million mark, but taking the property to auction ultimately produced a stronger outcome.

Auctioneer Glenn Bool said the bidding became a contest between two buyers once the price reached $1.8 million. He said keeping both parties engaged throughout the final stages of the auction helped the sale exceed the pre-auction offers that had been received.

Stephanie Tran said the result was encouraging given changing buyer sentiment in recent months. She said buyers had become more cautious following the Federal Budget, but well-presented homes in desirable locations could still attract strong competition when marketed effectively and offered at auction.

Built in 2010, the double-storey residence features secure electronic gated entry, multiple living areas, premium ducted air conditioning and a substantial solar power system. The home is also located close to schools, shops and public transport.

The result highlights the level of competition that can still emerge when multiple buyers pursue the same property. Despite the cautious sentiment described by the selling agent, the auction format produced a sale price well above both the opening bid and the pre-auction offers received by the vendors.

The Calamvale sale adds to a series of competitive auctions across Brisbane where sought-after family homes continue to attract multiple bidders. In this case, competition between buyers proved decisive, with the final sale price exceeding the vendors’ earlier offers by around $200,000.
