Boys golf: Massey is statebound

When the best high school golfers in Minnesota convene for the Class AAA state championship next week, Forest Lake junior Quinn Massey will be among them.
At the Section 7AAA championship at the Hinckley Grand National June 1 and 3, Massey shot a 75 in round one and a 74 in round two to finish with 149 strokes, placing him in a five-way tie for fourth among individuals. With five berths at state available, the tied golfers had to contest a series of playoff holes.broadstreet.zone(48036);
Massey claimed his state berth early, scoring a birdie on the first playoff hole.
Ben Johnson (Andover) won the individual title with 142 strokes. Elk River claimed the team berth to state with 601.
