Madsen feels blessed to have worked in Forest Lake
Photo by Jason DeMoe Linda Madsen will officially exit her position as Forest Lake district superintendent on July 1.

I have maintained that same attitude during my time here by working hard, doing the right thing and focusing on the kids. I hope it has served the district well.”broadstreet.zone(48036);
Madsen started her journey in Forest Lake as a first-grader at Forest Lake Elementary and made her way through the system from there. She graduated

Rangers go to state on Klein’s shutout
The Rangers celebrate their section championship on the mound just after the last out.
The Forest Lake baseball advanced to the state tournament after winning 1-0 over Duluth East in the Sectional 7AAAA championship game at Mark Park in Princeton June 7.
As the last remaining undefeated team in the double-elimination tournament, the Rangers’ season was not on the line, with a second-chance game to be played had they lost.broadstreet.zone(48036);
Instead, the Rangers confirmed their place in the Class AAAA tournament on the strength of a two-hit performance by pitcher Cameron Klein and a clutch hit by first baseman Mitch Jerde.
“We’ve told these players, in section play it often comes down to close games: well-pitched games, good defense and timely hitting,” head coach Tal Gravelle said. “That’s what we got today.”
Cameron Klein pitched a two-hit, no-run gem to help the Rangers make state.
Klein held the Greyhounds in check throughout the afternoon, striking out

The Forest Lake girls track team scored 130 points at the Section 7AA championships at Cambridge-Isanti May 31 and June 3 to claim its fifth straight section championship. The team title is the Rangers’ second in as many weeks, coming on the heels of their win at the Suburban East Conference meet May 23 and 25.broadstreet.zone(48036);
“It’s been a really good season,” head coach Kierstin Nygaard said. “The girls have been training really hard, just giving it everything they’ve got on the track. They’re starting to peak now, which is our goal.”
Though the top eight finishers in each event scored points, the more important function of the meet was to qualify athletes to the state championship meet. State berths were only available to the top two in every event, though this
