Longtime bus driver earned lifelong admiration

A fixture in the lives of previous generations of Forest Lake children has moved on, as longtime Forest Lake Area Schools bus driver Floyd Holzschuh died April 7, two days before his 91st birthday.
In his later years, Floyd and his wife, Carol, lived in North Branch, but Floyd was a community pillar for decades, entering the city’s restaurant business in 1969 before eventually becoming a bus driver, a job he held for almost 30 years.broadstreet.zone(48036);
“(He was) very dedicated,” said Bruce Holzschuh, one of Floyd’s four children. “Whether it was family or work ethic – doing a good job, doing the right thing – he was a straight arrow. In a lot of ways, he was really a simple person, kind of a quiet leader, leading by example.”

Progress: Farrell’s in business of changing lives

Rhea Friederichs, owner and instructor at Farrell’s Extreme Bodyshaping in Forest Lake, is excited for the center’s 10-week spring challenge to begin April 8.broadstreet.zone(48036);
Friederichs and her husband, Jeff, have welcomed about 200 new members since their inaugural 10-week challenge kicked off last October. They hope to be welcoming many more newcomers, but Rhea says she can understand a person’s apprehension to starting a new fitness program.
She was in that position herself just a little over two years ago.
Jeff had been active at a gym near their home in south Minneapolis. Rhea was unhappy with her weight and a limited level of fitness, but she says she wasn’t motivated to join any program until a co-worker spoke about a Farrell’s location in New Hope near
