Forest Lake Events for Nov. 16 2016

Craft night
The Forest Lake VFW, 556 12th St SW, will host a double sided wood holiday decor craft night from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 17. This craft stands two feet tall and on one side is a scarecrow and the other a snowman. The cost is $35 per person. Interested parties must register with Ami at 320-336-9905.
Turkey bingo
Forest View and Forest Lake Elementary will host a turkey bingo event from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 18 in the big gym at Forest View. The schools are raising money for the Literacy through the Arts program. The event is free and open to the public.
Food distribution
Forest Hills Church, 1790 11th St. SE, is hosting a food distribution Nov. 19 from 8 to 11 a.m. A $20 donation is requested to pay for transportation and distribution expenses. Minor car repairs can be arranged for by contacting 651-464-2561 to obtain an application.

‘Stepping’ up for a happier holiday; Nov. 14 to 21 is National Collection Week for Operation Christmas Child

Hundreds of Forest Lake residents are on a mission to make a lasting impact on children in need. They are looking beyond their own wish lists and packing shoeboxes for boys and girls around the world. For many of the children, it will be the first gift they have ever received.broadstreet.zone(48036);
During the week of Nov. 14 to 21, local residents will transform 90,000 empty shoeboxes into gifts of hope filled with school supplies, hygiene items, notes of encouragement, and fun toys such as a doll or soccer ball. Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, will deliver these shoebox gifts to children overseas living in extreme poverty or affected by war, disease, and natural disaster.
