The mtg of the Schl Bd of ISD No. 831, Forest Lk., MN, was called to order by Rob Rapheal at 8:03 pm on 1-19-17, at the Schl District Offices. At roll call the following mmbrs were present: J. Corcoran, K. Morehead, L.Odegaard, J.Olson, J. Peterson, R. Rapheal, G.Theisen, and Supt. L. Madsen, ex officio.
Consent agenda: Mmbr Theisen pulled agenda item 3.3. Mmbr Olson moved to appv agenda items 3.1-3.2. The motion was 2nd by Mmbr Theisen. All mmbrs present voted aye and the motion carried.

Nancy Lynn Caturia
Loving Mother, Grandmother and SisterNancy Caturia was a wonderful mother to Jeremy and Jennifer Caturia, a proud grandmother to Mylie and Raegan Caturia, and sister to Linda Saumweber and Carol Puissegur. She lost her two year fight with cancer on January 20, 2017.

The Forest Lake boys swimming and diving team sealed its fourth consecutive Section 7AA True Team Championship on Jan. 21 with a score of 1,048 points. Centennial placed second with 1,023. With the win, the Rangers earned a trip to the True Team state meet, to be held at the University of Minnesota’s Aquatic Center on Jan. 28, starting at 6 p.m.

The 200 medley relay team of Duncan Johnson, Journey Roberge, Ben Chatwin and Wyatt Thompson took first place with a meet record time of 1:40.40. Shortly thereafter, senior captain Thompson took first place and set a new personal and season best in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:45.85.

Around 80 people packed into the Forest Lake City Council chamber Jan. 23, most there to discuss the future of local police service, after the Forest Lake Personnel Committee initiated a request for a proposal from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office to contract law enforcement services in Forest Lake.
The Personnel Committee, which is made up of Councilmen Ed Eigner and Michael Freer, City Administrator Aaron Parrish and Assistant City Administrator Dan Undem, initiated the request at its Jan. 18 meeting following a discussion about filling an open position in the Forest Lake Police Department. The request does not mean that the city has initiated steps to discontinue the services of the Forest Lake Police Department,
Linwood organizes for the year

The first meeting of the Linwood Town Board focused on reorganization for the new year. Supervisor Mike Halliday was named the chairman of the board for the coming year, with Bob Millerbernd being named vice chair. As they worked through the reorganization Jan. 10, much stayed the same, including the schedule for Town Board meetings, the official newspaper, posting locations and mileage rates for the city. New attorneys for the town were named, Corrie and Ruppe, and supervisors were decided for the coming year.broadstreet.zone(48036);
After the committees were assigned, Halliday said, “All the committees that you oversee should be reorganizing.” He urged the supervisors to hold reorganization meetings in the committees.
After the reorganization, Fire Chief Daryl Ballman requested approval to spend about $5,000 to get the equipment on Engine 2 equivalent to equipment on Engine 1.
