Linwood recaps election, finds big voter turnout

Linwood Township is growing. At the Nov. 22 meeting, Sheila Bien, who organized the election judges for the township, gave an election report. The township had conducted absentee voting on Saturday, Nov. 5, and Monday, Nov. 7, at the Town Hall.broadstreet.zone(48036);
“We were very busy; we may need some election judges here (next time) so the staff isn’t swamped,” she said.
She reported staff was not able to do much else on that day. Supervisor Phil Osterhus asked if this would be needed in two years or four years.
“It depends on how bad the governor’s race will be in two years,” Bien replied.
The township has two precincts. While Bien reported some confusion “where a few voters were sent to the wrong precinct and then had to go back,” she said it was handled well overall. After a discussion about one judge who had to leave the polling place during a

Rotary honors LILA student achievement

Michael E. Nielsen

Loving Dad, Son, Brother, UncleAfter an 8 year long battle with two rare diseases that caused complications that sent him to the Mayo Clinic for testing and treatment, Michael Nielsen, age 37 of Forest Lake, died there peacefully in his sleep on Dec. 8, 2016. Mike’s goal in life was to make everyone laugh, and his daughters were the light of his life.
Survived by his precious daughters, Liberty and Elle; mother, Char; siblings, Angie (Joseph) Levandoski, Monique Reichstadt, John; nieces and nephews, Allie and Ryan Levandoski, Taylor and Nathan Reichstadt.
A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17th at Roberts Family Life Celebration Home, 555 Centennial Dr. SW, Forest Lake with visitation beginning at 2 p.m.

Gregory A. Bergeron

Greg Bergeron, formerly of Forest Lake, died suddenly on Dec. 6, 2016.
Greg was born Nov. 20, 1955 and is preceded in death by his parents William and Darlene and his brother Scott.
Greg will be deeply missed by his wife and riding partner Deb; his two step-children Deona Alexander and Garrett (Tarah) Knajdek; by Pamela his wife of 30 years; his children, Allen (Shawna), Brad (Heidi), Katie (Mike) James, Rebekah, Sam, Isaac, Joseph, and Lydia; as well as his 12 grandchildren and his siblings, Dave, Roxanne Muehlberg, Deb (David) Wicklund, Steve (Lori), Vicki (Mark) Rosdahl, Terry (Patti), Melissa (Fred) Barg. Attn: Local Union 110Patrick Steele, age 67 of Harris, loving Dad and Grandpa, went home on December 7, 2016.
Patrick was a proud graduate of Monroe High School (’67), Navy Vet and retired IBEW 110 journeyman. Pat spent his life hunting, fishing, and making people laugh. He was a late night philosopher, lover of music and propagator of shenanigans. He loved his kids and his grandkids more than anything on Earth and loved watching them play and grow. He reveled in time with his big family- finding joy in teasing his nieces and nephews and laughing the night away with his brothers, sisters and friends. He taught all who knew him kindness, empathy, forgiveness and most of all unconditional love.

Linda Kehoe (Hibbard), age 67 of Dresser, Wisconsin, danced her way into Heaven on December 10, 2016.
Preceded in death by father, Richard Hibbard; mother, Betty Peper; brother, Mark Hibbard; son-in-law, Keith Bazille; grandparents, Clarence and Edith Johnson.
