Wyoming gets updates on water tower, roads
Amy Doeun
Wyoming Reporter
The city of Wyoming Water Tower is about 90 percent completed.broadstreet.zone(48036);
“There was some discussion on long-term savings in not painting that (the pedestal),” City Engineer Mark Erichson told the Wyoming City Council during its June 6 meeting. “The cement will be sealed for long-term wear.”
Marty Powers of Public Works gave an update on gravel roads in the area.
“Some of our gravel roads are in need of gravel,” he said. “To do this, (we) would probably (need) one more year of adding gravel to kind of have the roads where they need to be. She’s referring to WSC’s year-and-a-half moving process from its old site – a small parcel of Department of Natural Resources land carved out of the Carlos Avery Wildlife Management Area in Columbus – to a new, 165-acre facility owned by WSC in Linwood (22830 Sunrise Road NE). Though the center has long owned the Linwood property, it didn’t have the funds ready for a move – until, that is, the move became necessary when the DNR told the center in January 2016 it was

The Forest Lake Area Community Scholarship Foundation has concluded its 44th consecutive annual scholarship cycle with record results. Since July 2016, Forest Lake Area donors have contributed a record $180,200 to be distributed as scholarships to applicants qualified for CSF general scholarships, named scholarships or scholarships awarded to individuals referred from community service agencies. In the 2017 scholarship cycle, CSF awarded 115 scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.broadstreet.zone(48036);
The generosity of Forest Lake Area donors is astonishing. CSF Vice President Joe Lefto has commented that CSF donors represent strategic philanthropy at its finest level, in that donors may never know their beneficiaries or experience the bright and prosperous futures of either recipients or the communities in which they may ultimately reside. Yet, CSF donors continue to support the CSF mission to assist Forest Lake Area residents seeking to advance their educations.
