The skyline of Stillwater is punctuated by spires and steeples. Looming high over the city’s South Hill for the nearly 150 years has been the Historic Washington County Courthouse. Organizers expect more than 1,000 visitors to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the building’s groundbreaking at a free, family-orientated event 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 3 on the grounds of the Washington County Historic Courthouse, located at 101 Pine St. W. in Stillwater.broadstreet.zone(48036);

The Forest Lake boys tennis season concluded at the Section 7AA individual tournament at Elk River last week.
Carter Stumne earned the top Ranger finish, placing fourth in singles.broadstreet.zone(48036);
The senior was seeded No. 4 in the bracket, which earned him a first-round bye. Stumne swept through his second- and third-round opposition on May 22, turning aside Blaine’s Logan James 6-1, 6-4, and then beating No. 5 Willy Kron (Andover) 6-1, 6-2.
“I was supposed to win the first two matches, but I knew the second match was supposed to be a tough match,” Stumne said. “The first day, I was thinking, ‘Just get through what I need to.’ After that, I’m the underdog, so anything beyond that would be icing on the cake.”

The Forest Lake girls golf team completed another dominating run through the Suburban East Conference, sweeping the victories at eight nine-hole events plus the 18-hole conference final at Oak Glen on May 25.
At the SEC finals, senior Hannah Kohls carded the best score of the day, a 74. Senior Maddy Messin finished second (78), junior Maija Tanberg tied for fifth (84) and sophomore Brooke Odland tied for eighth (86) in the 54-player field. Senior Anna Schmidtke (91) and sophomore Emma Schaffer (94) also placed well inside the top half.broadstreet.zone(48036);
As a team, the Rangers finished with 322 strokes, 32 better than runners-up Woodbury (354).

The Forest Lake girls track team won the Suburban East Conference championship meet at East Ridge May 23 and 25, finishing the two-day event with 190 points to edge four-time defending champions Mounds View (183).
Behind the two main contenders were White Bear Lake (150.5), Stillwater (116.5), East Ridge (108), Roseville (101), Cretin-Derham Hall (77), Woodbury (61) and Park (eight).broadstreet.zone(48036);
Forest Lake scored points in 16 of the 18 events. The Rangers made a big splash on the first evening, picking up 30 points in the 3200 when senior Amanda Forliti (11:29.14), sophomore Regan Duffy (11:29.67) and junior Caroline Schoessow (11:34.15) swept the top three places.
