Families who regularly visit Greenways Esplanade Park in Parkinson will soon have another reason to head outdoors, with the park’s well-used BMX track set for an upgrade.

The improvement was announced by Cr Adrian Schrinner, who said the BMX track, a fixture of many local weekends, would be refreshed alongside the installation of a brand new climbing net. More details about the project are expected to be released soon.
“Parks like this where kids learn to ride, families spend their Saturdays and neighbours run into each other. Getting them right matters,” Cr Schrinner shared in a social media post.
While the full scope of works has not yet been released, the announcement confirms further improvements are planned for Greenways Esplanade Park. The planned works will add to facilities already popular with families and young riders.
The BMX track provides a dedicated place where children can practise riding in a recreational setting. The upgrade will also include a brand new climbing net, adding another feature for visitors to enjoy.
Greenways Esplanade Park offers recreation facilities for a range of age groups in one location. Younger children have access to playground equipment, while older children and teenagers can make use of the BMX track, basketball court, cricket nets and other recreation spaces within the park.
Beyond organised sport and play, the park also offers open grassy areas where residents gather for picnics and time outdoors. Shared pathways throughout the park encourage walking, cycling and other casual recreation.

Located on Greenways Esplanade in Parkinson, the park is recognised as one of Brisbane’s family-friendly outdoor destinations. The park is among the city’s parks featuring paths designed for young children, with concrete riding tracks where children can enjoy bikes and scooters alongside playgrounds and open green space.
The park includes two playgrounds with shade sails, featuring swings, slides and climbing equipment suitable for a range of ages. A large climbing net is already one of its well-known play features, with a brand new climbing net also announced as part of the upcoming works.
Other facilities include a fenced basketball court, rebound wall, cricket nets, a concrete table tennis table, outdoor fitness equipment and expansive grassy areas for informal recreation.
Its relatively flat layout makes it suitable for prams, scooters and young riders, while the network of paths provides space for children to practise riding in a dedicated recreational setting.

Although Brisbane City has not yet released a construction timeline or detailed design plans for the BMX track upgrade, further information is expected to be released soon. Once completed, the improvements will refresh facilities that have made Greenways Esplanade Park a popular destination for local families and visitors looking to enjoy the outdoors.
