Cross-country: Girls 6th, boys 13th in state championship meet

The two Forest Lake cross-country squads completed successful seasons with strong runs at the MSHSL Group 2A championship meet in Northfield on Saturday, Nov. 5. The girls placed sixth of 16 with 169 points, while in the boys race the Rangers scored 328 points to finish 13th.
The 2A races were run in the afternoon. with temperatures climbing to an unseasonable 75 degrees Two Princeton runners, Anna Fenske and Lauren Peterson, stormed to the front at the beginning of the girls race, pulling many of the 176 girls in the race out at a faster pace than they might have otherwise intended.broadstreet.zone(48036);
“It was hot, and we went out a little bit fast,” girls coach John Fick said. “But they hung on very well, so I’m very happy.”
