A Pallara man has been charged with multiple counts of grievous bodily harm after he allegedly hit two pedestrians and a cyclist with his car in three separate incidents.
The first incident allegedly happened on the morning of 23 December 2022 when the man hit a 27-year-old woman who was walking through the Calamvale shopping centre’s underground car park from behind with his vehicle, believed to be a silver 2010 Ford Focus.
He then fled the scene without offering assistance to the woman who was later found by members of the public and was taken to the Mater Hospital. She is reported to be in stable condition.
Another incident occurred allegedly involving the same vehicle on the evening of 1 January 2023 when an 85-year-old man riding his bike along Daw Road in Runcorn was also hit. Police said that the vehicle came from behind the elderly cyclist and swerved to hit him.
Like in the previous incident, the vehicle fled the scene and rendered no assistance. The cyclist was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital and is in stable condition.
Two days after the alleged incident involving a cyclist, a vehicle with a matching description got involved in another incident. This time, an 81-year-old man from Eight Miles Plains who was walking through a Mt Gravatt shopping centre car park was allegedly struck by the same Ford Focus. He was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital and is in stable condition.
CCTV footage of the three incidents showed the silver 2010 Ford Focus as the vehicle involved in the incidents.
The 37-year-old man has been charged with three counts of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, failing to remain at the incident and render assistance, and one count of failing to provide a specimen of blood for analysis.
The man whose bail has been refused was already scheduled face Brisbane Magistrates Court.
