Another week, another championship. For the third year in a row, the Forest Lake girls golf team won the Section 7AAA championship and will compete for a state title. The Rangers shot 614 over two days to decimate the field; of the teams that made the second-day cut, Elk River finished closest, 80 strokes behind with 694. Junior Maija Tanberg finished as the overall medalist (149), followed closely by seniors Hannah Kohls (150) and Maddy Messin (151). All six Rangers placed in the top 12 in a field of 68, with sophomore Brooke Odland (172, seventh), senior Anna Schmidtke (173, 8th) and sophomore Emma Schaffer rounding out the Forest Lake entry (178, 12th). The Rangers now move on to the Class AAA state championship, set for Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids June 13-14.
