LILA creates interactive dragon art installation

Lakes International Language Academy visual arts students in grades 6 to 12 created patterned dragon scales in abstract designs based on the trademarked Zentangle Method, known for its meditative quality and accessibility for all learners. The pieces of artwork were assembled into a pair of dragon wings. The dragon is the school’s mascot. Students have been taking pictures of themselves with the dragon wings and sharing what makes them proud to be a LILA Dragon using the school hashtag, #DragonPride.
“We were inspired by the street artist Kelsey Montegue and her ‘#whatliftsyou’ project that encourages people to take pictures of themselves with her ‘wings’ and share them on social media,” LILA instructor Ann Jacobs said in a press release. “We wanted an interactive way for students to see that social media can have a positive impact; they also see how the digital world can intersect with art.”broadstreet.zone(48036);
