Softball falls in section finals

The Forest Lake softball team could not overcome top-seeded Anoka in the Section 7AAAA finals, losing 3-1 on June 1 in Ramsey.
The Rangers had already lost to Anoka 2-1 in extra innings the previous day to fall into the elimination bracket, before beating Blaine 5-3 to set up the rematch. Both teams turned to their ace pitchers, junior Megan Baniecke for Forest Lake, senior Amber Elliott for Anoka.
“Megan was our workhorse; she pitched almost every inning of the section tournament,” head coach Sean Hall said. “She always gave us a chance to win.”
