‘Super’ mileage

The Forest Lake Area High School Supermileage team, under the advisement of industrial tech teacher Kelly Nicholls, earned a first place finish at the 29th annual High School Supermileage Challenge, which took place May 15 and 16 at Brainerd International Raceway.
The team, made up of seniors Calob Miller, Christian Jones and juniors Logan Summer, Alex Niemi and Chloe Carter, won the Modified Engine class with a total of 497 mpg.broadstreet.zone(48036);
According to the Minnesota Technology and Engineering Educators Association’s website, the supermileage challenge is to provide students with a challenging project that allows practical experience in design, fabrication and testing.
