Cheung Sing building soon to be no more; Future looks bright for property
Mick Roberts and Steve Saunders, owners of the property at 1098 West Broadway Ave. that was most recently home to the Cheung Sing Chinese restaurant, oversaw the destruction of the building on that property on the morning of Aug. 24.
The building in question was the home of a Country Kitchen restaurant that opened in 1975. That business lasted 10 years and Cheung Sing moved in in 1985. That restaurant closed last year. Currently there are two separate plats on that property. The plat next to the one with the building has a flat concrete slab that will be removed. Roberts and Saunders have plans to combine the two plats to make one large plat.broadstreet.zone(48036);
The building tear-down is being done in a very specific way in that many of the pieces are being separated. The contractor plans to recycle all the metal and the concrete will go to Dresel Trucking in

2013 Forest Lake graduate Anthony Tyler finished off a stellar collegiate track career by earning a place on the Division III All-American team.
Tyler, a recent graduate of Hamline University, earned the honor by placing fifth in the discus throw at the NCAA Championships in Geneva, Ohio in May. His place-winning throw sailed 159 feet, 9.75 inches.broadstreet.zone(48036);
“All my hard work paid off; I was able to showcase it when it really mattered,” Tyler said.
The All-America medal is only the most prestigious of many titles and honors Tyler won during his collegiate throwing career. As a freshman, he was already one of the top throwers in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, placing second at the conference championship meet. He won the MIAC title as a sophomore before picking up silver medals again as a junior and senior. His resume includes eight individual wins along with 20 additional top-five finishes.

Wrestling is a mentally and physically demanding sport, but for some Forest Lake grapplers, the commitment extends well into the summer.
One of the most prestigious honors for age-level wrestlers is to be asked to represent Team Minnesota in one of USA Wrestling’s National Duals Team Tournaments. Team Minnesota competes against the best wrestlers from throughout the country. broadstreet.zone(48036);
Forest Lake wrestlers selected to represent Minnesota on the Schoolboy team (wrestlers born 2003-04) include Reid Nelson, Reed Parrish and Tyler Raway. Derrick Cardinal was also selected but was forced to miss the competition due to injury.
