The Ranger volleyball team, seeded No. 6 in the Section 7AAA tournament, won its first playoff game at home against No. 11 Duluth Denfeld on Wednesday, Oct. 26, before being knocked out by No. 3 Princeton on Friday, Oct. 28.broadstreet.zone(48036);
The Rangers were largely dominant in the Denfeld game, winning in straight sets 25-14, 25-20, 25-12. Even in the close second set, the Rangers eased to a 19-10 advantage before the Hunters fought back.
“We really showed up to play tonight,” head coach Sherri Alm said. “We pushed the tempo, played faster and kept (Denfeld) off-kilter.”
A pair of sophomores topped the score sheet, Abigail Groeneweg (14 kills) and Angela Denney (11). Senior Tia Moscatelli had five.
The ball often fell advantageously for the Rangers on the night, most notably when a Groeneweg spike came down
